ACID JACKS HEADLINE SNEAKY SATURDAY

Newcastle’s latest saturday afternoon dance event "Sneaky Saturday" will be featuring melbourne's villains of the dance floor ACID JACKS who are currently supporting Italian electro dance crew The Bloody Beetroots on their tour to Oz. The guys from Acid Jacks will destroy Newcastle's Dance floors with their own style of synth'd out banging beats!!!

Also featuring Sleater Brockman and Jubilee (NYC) and including a special DJ set from Here Come The Birds (2008 Splendour in the Grass Unchartered winners).

Local DJs include: Ned Kelly, Chase-oh, Mark Maxwell, Jace Cordell, Bart Smith, A-Catt, TAP TAP!, G-len, Beatnik dj's and Dan McNab. Chit Chat with The Twelves

João and Luciano from The Twelves

I was first introduced to The Tweleves via Hype Machine with their amazing remix of The Black Kids "I'm not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance with you". Since then their remixes of Yelle's "Ce Jeu" and New Young Pony Club's "Get Lucky" have been a constant in my playlists. I was luck enough to meet them when they played at Maitland's "Groovin the Moo" and we chatted about their time so far in Townsville, which they said was a similar humidity as it gets back home in Rio de Janeiro. I told them of my love for the remix they did in 2008 of "Boyfriend" from The Black Kids and asked when it became a full time thing. Luciano told me about the day he received the request from the black kids to do the remix as he was still working at an advertising agency in Rio. He said that he finished up there after that remix took off as they were soon inundated with requests to do remixes of songs from all over the world. I found out they were heading back to Sydney after the show to chill with their favourite sydney lads Theatre of Disco before they play at Oxford Art Factory later that evening.

So I thought it would be nice to share my favourite remix by them with you!

DE lA SOUL @ GROOVIN THE MOO 9 MAY 2009

These masters of Hip Hop DE LA SOUL were in Australia celebrating 20 years of pioneering hits and they certainly stole the show tonight! With old-school crowd pleasers such as “Me Myself and I” from their first album "Three Feet High and Rising" livened up the crowd, followed by “Saturday”, where the trio swung their mic's to the crown, and the crowd sung "Saturday" over and over. Meeting them earier before their set I was chatting to member Aseo who told me of a long and hectic tour schedule that was all coming to an end with this final show in Maitland.

Cheers to Aseo, Dave & Pos from De la Soul for forfiling a life long dream!

De la Soul with yours truly!
